I came home from the shop last night around 4:30, while there was still some light; passing the turn-off into the neighbor’s corn field (they grow corn to attract the deer so they can shoot them while they eat) I saw a silver pickup truck parked back in the corner, which is the end closest to my property. Here we go, again.
In an earlier post, I commented about CIA’s Base Eagle in Kabul [stderr]. It’s fun to find such things, but I wanted to keep my obsessive curiousity disengaged. It’s easy to spend all night scrolling around and eyeballing the world below. And, it’s interesting to see how the views of a place are different.
The story over at Politico [politico] has it that the DoD had some intelligence regarding and attack at Kabul Airport prior to the suicide bombing that killed around 200 people and wounded many more.
This is a depressing view inside the FBI. It does not contradict any of the impressions I have already gleaned from ex-FBI agents I’ve talked to, and projects I’ve worked on where they have been involved. As usual, “not all FBI” – sure, there are some that are talented and not white supremacists – but those people (as the article shows) had to learn to work within a system that was incompetent and white supremacist.
We didn’t “lose” in Afghanistan. We “not-won.” Or something.
I mentioned this in the comments of my last posting, but I think it’s worth going into a bit more detail.
The US’ attitude toward Cuba has always been that of the frustrated empire. Basically, the US is still pissed off that its attempts to buy Cuba were rebuffed by the Spanish.
Vote suppression is a violation of the 15th Amendment. But in today’s ritualized super-charged environment of lies, some must pretend that it’s not, because otherwise it’d be pretty obvious what they were doing.
… What is going on with COVID-19 in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, but it appears that Israel is allowing the people there to act as a hot-house reservoir of virus.
