Great Moments in Trolling

A guy in the audience yelled at one of the tennis players at Wimbledon, so she decided to let him see how hard a professional serve is delivered. He was well-served indeed!

I love how, at 0:59 Kim Clijsters has to lie down, she’s laughing so hard. Good sports, all around.

One of the things most people never get to experience is going up against a world class player at a sport. It can be stunning, literally incomprehensible. It appears to me that Clijsters hit her serve so it bounced off the guy’s racquet before he had a chance to move. She was actually being very kind and funny. That’s a real professional for you.

So true. 20 years ago (or so) I had the opportunity to fence against Molly Sullivan (U.S. women’s olympic team)

I literally never saw her move. I considered myself fair decent for an amateur (certainly not olympic level by any means but for an amateur “pretty good”.) Her speed and point control was mind boggling. I was EPICALLY humbled. And loved every millisecond of it. :)

No, he returned the first one legitimately, if only just. But that is because the serve was much gentler than usual.

You’re right. I just watched it more carefully. And it’s clear, too. I a) should have re-checked the video before I said that and b) must have been working my preconceptions. Evidence, skeptic!

I had a similar experience doing an improv duet with a professional musician. I was bumbling along a bit incoherently and she still managed to find a way to complement it. Like sight reading, but the composer is a toddler and the notes are finger painting.
