Auction #33 for Freethoughtblogs Legal Debts

This is to help defray FTB’s legal debts from Richard Carrier’s defamation lawsuit. Details and rules are below:

Bidding starts at: $1

You can bid in the comments, or bid by emailing me [link]; it may take a while for an email bid to register because I check my email only once or twice a day.

Whoever bids the most wins. The final price is (winner decides) between $1 more than the second highest bidder, and what they bid. So, if someone bids $50 and you bid $100 and that’s the final bid, you pay whatever you want between $51 and $100. Please do not “auction snipe” with last-minute bids. This is more like a silent auction than Ebay. Pay Here: [paypal]

Auction Closed at $30!

red cedar lingerie drawer bowl about 8″ x 2″ 5/8″ thick walls

This is a random idea I had the other day: what if I made a bowl out of aromatic wood that was intended for putting in sock drawers or whatever? I don’t believe in the protection cedar allegedly has against moths; if there is any, it’s mild. But it still smells great and is beautiful.

I will be making more of these, I just need to source more appropriately-sized cedar blocks.

When I was a child I had two little boxes: one was made of pine, the other made of cedar. Being of a scientific mind, one afternoon I caught two beetles of the same species and put one in the pine box and one in the cedar box. The next morning when I checked, pine box beetle was still alive and indignantly stalked off in a huff when I released it. Cedar box beetle was quite, quite dead.

I think this is a terrific idea.
