The foliage is much less dense than it was on July, but this was what we saw already then.

Seeing through the trees, we can see the Nature Centre and a small red building.

For those who have been raised in Finnish culture, the latch and the heart on the door reveal what kind of building is this. It is an outhouse. Quite an anticlimax, but on the other hand, it is a good and useful building (and it was quite tidy inside).

This is another view to the buildings.

In the next installment we shall return again to the top of the island.

(editor’s note 27/02/19 – With Apologies to Ice Swimmer this post was published out of order. We will return to the top of the island on March 4/19 in Chapter 16 – Top and Around)

Finally, I know where the path leads and at my age it’s always good to know where the toilets are!

  2. Ice Swimmer says

    It’s all right. Shit happens.

I wasn’t sure about the universality of the heart shape. That particular outhouse had pine bark in a bucket for covering the gross domestic product and to keep the smells to a minimum.

  3. Nightjar says

I had been waiting for this post, hoping you hadn’t forgotten about the Mystery Path! But I wasn’t expecting this outcome. :)

The heart shape isn’t universal. I wouldn’t have guessed what that building was.
