Jack’s Walk

Last year we didn’t really have too much of an autumn show of colour. Instead, most trees just went from green to brown to leafless. This year, though, autumn is glorious and all the trees are wearing their best, bright party dresses. Jack and I invite you to join us as we stroll around our neighbourhood and look at all the pretty October colour.

Just starting to colour up

Big pots of colourful mums are gracing porches

There’s lots of bright yellow

I love the bright leaves against a blue sky

This is the rest of the tree and his buddy in bright orange

A burning bush, burning

What a pretty porch!

The other side of What a pretty porch! Every time I pass here I want to curl up in that white chair.

A baby oak in flame

Tall grasses wave against a deep blue sky

Lots of my neighbours decorate for fall with bales of hay that will become garden cover once Hallowe’en is done

The paper birches have a tinge or orange this year

These are my favorite trees this year, ©voyager, all rights reserved

I love the red oak, probably Quercus rubra.
The bright yellow trees look very much like norwegian maples Acer platanoides. If so, they are, despite their beauty, a potentially invasive species in Canada. But I too love the bright yellow leaves against the blue sky.

That oak is gorgeous, but none of them are at all shabby!

I like that the owners of the Pretty Porch have not eliminated all of the plants in the cracks in their path.

They’re all gorgeous, but the tall grass is my favourite.
Tonight as we drove home tge sun was low shining on trees that seemed to glow from within and I swear I was almost having an orgasm.
