Simply Delightful

I’m listening to the audiobook version of Ian Toll’s Pacific Crucible, which is about the naval war in the Pacific, WW2. [wc]

In describing Admiral King, it uses an observation by his daughter:

He was the most even-tempered of all the admirals; always in a state of rage.

I grew up in King’s home town (Lorain, Ohio). My first year of high school (before we moved away) was at Admiral King High. At the time I knew nothing about him other than he was an important WW2 admiral.

Now I’ve read enough about him to wonder why he was considered a good role model for us boomer kids.
