Socks’ Adventures: The Big Water

Socks:

Did you know there’s different types of water? I didn’t! I mean, water and me, we go way back. Like, I practically started drinking that stuff when I was a puppy. But the Fam showed me that you can even use it to get your paws wet? I’m still not the biggest fan of swimming. Usually we go to a small waterhole where the water is always cold and tastes really good. Mum and the Fam insist on throwing my toys in there when they could just throw them in the meadow, but I will admit that it does cool down. Also you can rub yourself dry in the dirt afterwards. Mum loves that.

Now, where was I? Right, water. There was a big water there. Like real big. But only sometimes. Sometimes there was a lot of mud. Mud is cool. The Fam took me there the first evening. There were puddles and mud and I quite liked that, but that water tasted really bad. I tried it and it was way too salty. And I tried again and it still hadn’t bettered its ways. Not even the third, fouth and whatever numbers come after that time. Stupid water.

As an ex-bicycle tourer, I’m not the biggest fan of wet Socks.

Wet Socks do have a kind of unpleasant smell.

He’s slowly getting there. He’s a rescue who mostly grew up in a shelter and while they’re doing a wonderful job at taking care of the dogs, they can’t introduce them to new environments like a good breeder would do. I guess that’s a topic for another post.

Oh Socks, Decca is deeply sympathetic over the big bad tasting water. Where she saw it it kept flowing back and forth so she couldn’t work out where to walk. What is wrong with it?

Yes, it is. It runs on a dependable schedule, but the tides are really noticable. They’re also quite dangerous because people underestimate how quickly the water retrns and also there are the so called Priele, like rivers running in the sea. At the start of high tide you will not notice much, but behind your back the Priel is filling up and then you’re cut off.
