Fungi Friday


Thanks to Avalus, we have a taste of the fungi of fall.

Fall would not be fall without all the tiny mushrooms. Here is one, growing between pine needles.

    I wonder if this one which certainly looks very much like a fungi is actually the lichen Lichenomphalia chromacea known locally (Adelaide hills) as Orange Naval? (or yellow apparently..)

    Yellow Navel, Lichenomphalia chromacea
    Although this looks like fungus -- it is not. It is a lichen (an essential partnership between a fungus and an alga).
    Grows on bare soil.

    Great photo in either case.
