It was also the name of no less than 3 unuccessful America’s Cup yachts.
Among other things.
The interestingly named Oliver Optic trusn out to be the pen name of William Taylor Adams (1822- 1897) “.. a noted academic, author, and a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.” :
