My Last Week

My poor brain keeps getting whacked by stuff. I suppose this is “getting old.”

I am doing much better. I had a lot of really weird cognitive scrambles that I may write about some day. Right now, I am taking it easy(ish) and trying to keep from just being a bed-pimple. That means lots of sitting in front of a fan with Voltaire’s remedy – lemonade and a book. Unlike Voltaire, I can’t read Newton’s Principia in the original Latin, and the Physics would go over my head.

In fact it was the lemonade that told me I was sick: suddenly it was completely flavorless. And I went “uh oh.”

Anna also got it (COVID: “share and enjoy!”) and she’s doing OK.

I will say that “racking cough” plus “diarrhea” can be awkward. Whoever designed that combo of symptoms is probably a republican.

And let me repeat my PSA: applesauce. It’s the only thing that tastes the same going up as going down. However, when you’ve had your sense of taste whacked by COVID, you don’t care!

Stay hydrated!

A friend of mine (fully vaccinated and boosted) has had it 4 times and says “this is bullshit.”

I hope you get to feeling better soon!

When my nephew had COVID, he said that for him everything tasted like burned plastics.

It looks like I got so far lucky in the Covid lottery even compared to other vaccinated people.
I do hope you recover soon and fully. Fingers crossed.

damn. So many people around here that I know have managed to avoid the first two years, and have caught it recently. None that I knew personally in this recent wave required hospitalization, and seemed to recover quickly.

Here’s to hoping you recover quickly as well.

May you both recover fast and may all symptoms disappear soon. Good to know you’re both vaccinated – that makes a big difference!

I’m happy to hear you are recovering, being sick isn’t ever enjoyable. The body has some rather disgusting immune responses to being invaded by tiny alien life forms.

Dang, that’s an inconvenience, but if it helps do be a bed pimple. Why not? Read a bit, sleep a lot, stay cool, drink and eat what’s necessary. If it’s like mine, three or four days and you’ll be rid of the main symptoms, getting back to fully negative takes seven or ten days tho’.
    Speedy recovery, and happy reading!

Pickled beets are delicious, especially when cloves are included in the pickling spices.
I don’t know that I’ve ever had pickled cabbage. Sauerkraut is fermented, rather than pickled.

I am hoping that my cucumbers start producing some fruits for pickling. They have grown very well and are just coming into the blooming and fruiting stage. The dill has bloomed and is now going to seed, so I suppose I should plant more now if I want fresh garden dill for pickling.
