A deep blue pigment obtained from lapis lazuli. Its name means “overseas” referring to its history as an expensive good imported by sea from Asia, but sometimes it can be found in the sea itself, I think.

Ultramarine and gulls in winter plumage.

This is one of my favourite colors and it made me smile. I won’t get to the east coast this year to see the ocean and the gulls so it made my day.
This one is seriously at the top of the favourites list.
