A Living Remembrance

Nightjar has sent us photos of a Barberry shrub that she planted in remembrance of Caine. She says:

Here are the photos of the shrub I planted in her memory, it was in such a small pot and badly in need of being planted. The colour red, thorns and berries that attract birds are all things Caine loved, and that’s what made me pick this shrub.

That’s a beautiful way to remember someone, Nightjar. I know Caine would approve. Thanks for sharing.

I should add that those are not raindrops, I sprinkled the plant on purpose. As you all know, water was something Caine loved to play with in her photography. I remember that one of the very first sets I saw from her was exactly that, playing with a sprinkler and flowers, I think she called it “Water Play”, and it was so inspiring.

Oh, I found it. Wow. I haven’t looked at them in several years and they are exactly as I remember.

A beautiful plant and beautiful photos, I like the lushness of the third and the minimalism of the last. May your barberry grow well and feed many birds.

The second and the last picture are especially captivating and also reminiscent of some embroidery tools. A beautiful plant, a beautiful thought and beautiful pictures.
