I won’t be around in the early morning at all (Tuesday / 10th), but I will get stuff posted somewhere in the neighbourhood of 10 or 11 am. Oncology had a difficult time squishing me in, so have to be at the hospital by 8am. Blah. Grimhild is giving me serious grief today too, so I’m taking meds and I’m going to sleep to very last moment I can come morning. Sorry for the bump, things should get back to normal after tomorrow. I hope.

May the day improve for you… it’s really nice of you to post these little notes because of course we all worry about you and hope you are well. But rest assured. Haha, that’s a joke. Kind of.

Sorry Grimhild is misbehaving, and that oncology could only fit you in at such an appalling hour. I’m of the firm opinion that morning/afternoon should be a category on medical forms like blood group etc, then those of us who don’t do mornings would only get later appointments and so be able to remember what was said at appointments far better. :) (not really joking either) Hpoe you slept well.

I’m sorry for your discomfort, Caine.

Jazzlet, some days you just have to fit people in where and when you can. The work must get done. There are some things that must not be rescheduled.

Thank you all! Got a later start than I intended.

Raucous Indignation, I’m sure Jazzlet and I understand that, but I’m with Jazzlet on this one. I’m a right bitch if you make me get up at such a barbaric hour, I’m much pleasanter to deal with after noon. That said, I am known as “she’s afternoon!” around the hospital and environs. I know people do their best to accommodate, and that does include us patients accommodating you doctors.

I didn’t fuss at all because my oncologist has to see 30 people today, and that was the only slot, even though this was the fault of the scheduling people, because I have told them, for weeks, that I need the appts. on Tuesdays only, and they went and scheduled me for an effin’ Wednesday, so it was a last minute thing.

I do understand that, and if you are treating me you can do it in the morning. It’s not even just that I can be a bitch in the morning, it’s that my brain takes a while to wake up properly so if you want me to understand what you are telling me about a diagnosis or to discuss possible ways to treat me it really does make a difference whether you see me in the morning or in the afternoon. Coffee does help, but mostly what I need is time since I woke up, ideally several hours, I really wish it weren’t so, but nothing I’ve tried seems to make much difference, and yes I do get plenty of good quality sleep.

Appointments for many thing at most NHS hospitals are handled by an appointments unit, sometimes the lack of communication between them and a department, as well as them not listening to you (or perhaps not recording what you have said in the right place) can be extremely frustrating.
