Their coloration isn’t flashy, but it is incredibly beautiful. The males have patches of iridescent colours on their necks, and I love the colours around their eyes, it looks like they are wearing cosmetics. Every now and then, I’m lucky and get a shot with eyes closed -- the eyelid colour is soft blue. And their eyes are garnet red.

Cherbear, I love hearing Mourning Doves, and I’m so glad they are back. We had Eurasian Collared Doves move in a few years back, and they are aggressive bullies, so we lost our Mourning Doves for a while.
The black spots on the wings are much less prominent than the white spots on the wings of many woodpeckers.
