The first photo is just perfect! The light, the framing and the bokeh are just beautiful.
The combination of the deep blue spikes in the purple bloom is wonderful.
I concur.
My aunts have said they called thistle flowers partasuti (shave brush, direct translation beard brush) and probably used them as such in their playing stuff when they were kids. I have no idea if their thing is very widespread.
Thistle is ohdake in standard Finnish (none of the traditional dialects would have the d).
