How to Make a Samurai Cat

and other very cool stuff. Katybe alerted me to Canadian artist Jeff de Boer, and so far all I have is a host of “ooohs”, “aaahs” and “want!”. Other than that, I’m fair speechless. Textless. Something. The very first “Want!” was Rose:

Oh, there’s a lot of cat armor, too, for those who for some inexplicable reason, prefer them to rodents. Jeff is also nice enough to have some great pictorials on How to make a Samurai Cat, A giant tin toy, and a giant lighted ball.

Jeff has many galleries, and a whole lot of wonderful art to explore, so have a visit and look around.

Excellent! I remember coming across them a few years back and being blown away, so thank you so much for giving me a reason to revisit them. The Rottweiler helmet was one of my favourites.

The mildly deranged penguin doesn’t care if the kitty is earing armour or not, they still fly when launched from a trebuchet. However, the landing is a bit different, it tends to be either a mightly THUMP! and crashing through several stories of masonry, or a Big SPLASH! and rapid sinking. With careful aiming, she can achieve both effects, a WHANG! as the cat bounces off a house or seawall, THUMP! as it crashes into a boat, and SPLASH! as it goes through the boat into the sea, and a lot of cursing as all sink.

It is, however, expensive in cat armour, as you either have to buy another set for a future launch, or go and retrieve the previous set, shake out the rather unamused kitty, and hammer out the dents. Professional Tip: Hammer the dents out of the (empty) cat armour, not out of the cat.

Anytime. There’s an email link on the sidebar, if there’s something else you’d like me to feature, let me know. :)
