i said it before and i’ll say it again, if we have to be under the aeternal reich, just let us be done with this one specific pile of shit. if prayer was made more effective by ardent desire, i feel like mine would outweigh any given dozen of his zealots put together. sigh.

“That’s the thing about autocracy. It looks pretty decent while it still looks pretty decent. Survivable, anyway. And it keeps looking like that right up until it doesn’t. That’s how you find out it’s too late.”

    To quote Wil Wheaton:

“Just realized it’s the Ides of March.

    Happy stab a dictator day.”

Prediction (not for the first time) : Trump will die in office.

    Possibly even this decade.

Old Soviet joke making the rounds again: Man stops by a newsstand everyday and scans the front pages of the papers then leaves without buying anything. One day the vendor stops him and asks what he’s up to. Guy says “I’m looking for an obituary.”

Vendor says “Oh those are toward the back pages, Comrade.”

Guy replies “Not the one I’m looking for.”

I don’t like that time window; it’s too big. Of course, president Vance doesn’t sound like an improvement.
He’s in terrible shape – his brain is folding up pretty quick. I think he’ll be having trouble walking in a year or two at the outside.

Marcus and I have been thinking the same thing. I’ve been looking for signs of supportive exoskeletons, Melania having a shepherd’s crook that is edited out to keep him upright etc.

Do we think that it’ll be better without him? I think that much of why his last term wasn’t as disasterous as it could have been is that he’s a pure agent of chaos. He can’t focus, can’t understand complicated issues, changes his mind based on whoever spoke with him last. He fires people out of spite, or because there’s bad media around them, or because someone whispered in his ear that the person is becoming too popular. Nobody seems to be entirely able to control him, and he absolutely refuses to just sit back and let other people make the decisions a la brain-melted Ronnie Reagan.

I would be more concerned about what a psychopathic puppet of Peter Thiel might do if he got his hands on the levers. Purge the swirling cloud of backstabbing courtiers that currently surrounds Trump and replace them with technocrats intent on realizing Curtis Yarvin’s butterfly revolution and ushering in the corporate-kingdom. Rein in and focus Elon Musk (to the degree that he can focus anymore) so that he dismantles the regulatory and security state enough that Thiel’s panopticon can take its place.

Trump might conceivably be as good (or less bad) of a president as you guys can actually have at the moment.
