A Tangled Tale: The Red Pill.

The Daily Beast has uncovered the tangled origins of Reddit’s angry and toxic Red Pill forum. It turns out the creator of said forum is a once upon a time democrat turned republican, Rep. Robert Fisher. He’s quite the specimen, to say the very least. The article is in-depth and link heavy, so just a bit here.

Last November, voters in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region re-elected to the state House of Representatives a man who appears to be one of the secret architects of the Internet’s misogynistic “Manosphere.”

The homegrown son of a preacher, 31-year-old Robert Fisher is a Republican who represents New Hampshire’s Belknap County District 9. In addition to his legislative duties, Fisher owns a local computer repair franchise, and in his spare time, seems to have created the web’s most popular online destination for pickup artistry and Men’s Rights activists, The Red Pill, according an investigation by the Daily Beast.

An investigation into Fisher’s online aliases found a trail of posts linking the lawmaker to the username Pk_atheist, the creator of The Red Pill—an online Reddit community of nearly 200,000 subscribers which promotes itself as a “discussion of sexual strategy in a culture increasingly lacking a positive identity for men.”

It’s a good example of attribution; I wish the FBI could do as well.

And it sounds like we have our first openly atheist republican representative!! Congrats to Fisher for that; sorry about your career imploding you sneaky hypocrite. Remember: being a sneaky weasel or a republican is a ‘lifestyle choice’. It’s legitimate to despise you for your lifestyle choices, I’m told.

I found it interesting, all his attempts to deny ownership and affiliation now. That doesn’t strike me as the sort of shit a rethug would be ashamed of, but I guess even that nasty bit of humanity can recognize that women do vote, whether he likes that or not.

Yeah, I’m kind of surprised he isn’t taking credit as well. I suppose he thinks it may also affect his ability to pick up women if too many know he’s such a shit stain. Doesn’t he know that fame brings benefits such as being able to grab women by the pussy?

I suspect he’s more worried about the atheism thing than the sexist asshole thing. Being a sexist is ok but atheists are still unacceptable (the whole lot of them are probably athier than I am..)

Marcus, yeah, but he can just pull the standard “I was an atheist, but Jesus visited me and…” bullshit. That’s the easiest bit to get out of, so I think it has to be that he’s thinking it’s the being a massively toxic, sexist asshole that will hurt him. And he’s right about that one.
