Sounds like our weather forecast for tomorrow. The ridgeline that protects Chateau Lofty will be experiencing warm 40mph winds after the first couple of beautiful spring like days we’ve enjoyed this season. I don’t particularly mind windy days so long as I don’t have to drive or cycle through falling trees and branches on the road.

Back when I cycled around most of the time I kept a close eye on the wind forecasts. I really hated the days when I had a strong head wind cycling into work and then had the weather shift for a strong head wind cycling back home that evening.

Kengi, It’s always uphill. And against the wind. Unless the Sun is especially hot that day. Then there is no wind, the road is even steeper, and it feels like you’re riding inside a blast furnace. When the Sun doesn’t bother to show up, the road is also steeper, the cold wind is especially strong, and that’s just to prepare you for the rain. With added hail on days ending in –y.

I always got strange looks when I would tell friends riding with me that the trip back was more uphill than the trip out. My muscle aches wouldn’t lie, would they? But generally I agree with Lofty. Riding was most often glorious except for having to tediously work my way around fallen trees blocking the trails.

Oh and well done on the pictures too, you’ve captured the essence of storm approaching quite nicely. At Chateau Lofty the tree tops are roaring in anger at the elements but the sky is still bright and blue.
