Repealing ACA Will Cost $350 Billion.

As most people should be aware by now, the scum-sucking assholes who will be in charge just can’t wait to kill off “Obamacare” for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Oh, except for spite. Pretty soon, a whole lot of people are going to find themselves without healthcare, and they’ll be looking at dying much sooner than they planned, because that’s what happens when you don’t have healthcare. The republican thugs want you to believe it’s about saving money, but that really couldn’t be further from the truth. They have no replacement plan, and dismantling the ACA will be costly.

An analysis by the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Budget reveals that repealing the Affordable Care Act will likely cost the federal government at least $350 billion, and that doesn’t include the cost of replacing it.

“Repealing the entire ACA would leave no funds available for ‘replace’ legislation, and in fact would require further deficit reduction to avoid adding to the debt,” the report notes.

The analysis also focuses only on the net cost to the federal government and doesn’t consider the economic burden (which CNBC calls “the far bigger economic impact”) that will face insurers, hospitals, doctors, drug companies, and others in the existing health system. And of course, it doesn’t include an estimate of the financial impact on the 23 million Americans who will lose their health coverage if the ACA is repealed and not replaced.

If it gets repealed and I therefore lose my health insurance, I give myself a week. I’m a type 1 diabetic whose out-of-pocket medical costs would reach somewhere in the range of 1000 dollars a month, and who makes nine dollars an hour. I’d have to quit my job so I could go on Medicaid, but I would likely have to clean out what savings I’ve managed to get to afford the basics until I could go through the application process.

But sure, repealing the ACA doesn’t hurt ANYONE, right?

Jesus fuck. I am so sorry, Watry, and infuriated, too. It’s beyond unconscionable for people like yourself to have to start suffering already, wondering if you’ll be able to stay alive, along with the whole shelter and food business.

If there is any way for me to help you, at anytime, please let me know.

You’re awfully sweet to offer. Right now I’m trying to find another job, which is its own can of awful, and trying to remember what my therapist said about catastrophizing. I’m also trying to get into non-American PhD programs, but when you’re officially speaking disabled and your undergraduate grades kind of sucked, it can be slow going.

I’ve also had two friends offer to marry me so I can have their benefits. :D

If Annoying Orange and his cast of clowns do try to repeal the ACA, they will wait until the last year of AO’s first or {shudder} second term before starting. They can destroy people’s medical care while dumping the cost and blame onto the next democrat president. People have such short political memories nowadays that it might work, making a 2024 or 2028 republican win possible.
