According to the Austin Statesman, County Judge James Oakley is under fire for typing “Time for a tree and a rope” under a mugshot of accused cop-killer Otis Tyrone McKane, who was arrested on Monday in San Antonio and charged with the shooting death of police Det. Benjamin Marconi.
Oakley has since taken down the post, but blogger Larry Landaker of PEC Truthwatch was able to take a screen capture of the offensive comment before it disappeared.

An 8-year-old African American boy was hospitalized after bullies attacked him and his younger sister on November 14, the Atlanta Black Star reports. The incident occurred at the Spanish Lake Primary School in Geismar, Louisiana. Now, the family is seeking help with medical expenses.
Jordan Jackson was defending his 4-year-old sister from a group of older children — all of whom were white, and one of whom was 13 — who were throwing mulch at them. The two Jacksons appear to be victims of a racially-motivated attack.
When Jordan asked the kids to stop, one of the kids told him, “You need to go back to the cotton farm.” He was then pushed to the ground and body slammed.
Jordan was hospitalized with a broken arm and a concussion that later led to “post-concussion syndrome,” which includes symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, and insomnia, among others.

There have been 14 instances of swastika vandalism in New York City since the election, eight of them in the last week alone, according to press reports and the New York Police Department. No arrests have been made, the police said. By way of comparison, last year there were about five to six incidents per month.
Civil rights groups attribute the proliferation of the Nazi symbol to the triumphal mood of white nationalists who had supported President-elect Donald J. Trump in the Nov. 8 election. In the incident last week in Brooklyn, the vandals had also scrawled “Go Trump” and other graffiti near the swastikas.
The incidents in New York run parallel with a surge in reports of hate crimes and racist graffiti around the United States. The FBI reported a 6 percent increase in hate crimes in 2015 from the year before, with most of the increase attributable to harassment of Muslims. These incidents are especially shocking to New Yorkers, who pride themselves in the diversity of a city whose harbor is watched over by the Statue of Liberty. New York is also home to roughly 1.1 million Jews, more than any other city outside Israel.
The Southern Poverty Law Center last week reported 701 incidents of harassment since Election Day, including 60 acts of vandalism involving the swastika.

Police in Evanston, Illinois are investigating a series of defaced copies of the Quran, as well as books about the Quran at the Evanston Public Library, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Librarians reportedly found homophobic slurs, swastikas, and other messages in the books while preparing to host an event that was focused on the Quran.
A Facebook user named Lorena Neal shared a photo of one of the books in a post on Facebook, writing, “When I opened one of [the books], I found this. When the other librarians and I checked the section, we found several others that had also been defaced with swastikas and racial slurs.”
“They were not like this a week ago, when one of the other librarians was showing a Muslim gentleman our collection on this subject,” Neal continued. “Evanstonians like to think we are safe in a bubble of tolerance, but none of us can afford to pretend that we are not affected by the hatred that surrounds us now.”
So, the Quran is hatred, but the swastika is what? A loving hug? Fuck. Via Raw Story.
