I like this set of pictures. Works well together!

It has lance-shaped hairy leaves and lots of hair on the stems, so I think it’s a black-eyed Susan. A hundred or two have just started blooming in the back yard over the past few days with many more buds on the way. I sowed brown-eyed Susan’s as well as sweet black-eyed Susan’s in the same area, but haven’t seen any of those yet. They may not show up until next year because of the current density of other plants.

    black-eyed Susan

Duh. :P We called them brūnacītes (“little brown eyes (fem.)”) when I was growing up, so I constantly mislabel them as brown-eyed in English, too. :D
