Thrive

Sharing another poem from my book, Free to Roam: Poems from a Heathen Mommy.

Thrive

(a message to my younger self)

Thrive
among the stares
meant to strip your future naked.

Thrive
among the words
meant to leave your outlook tainted.

Thrive
outside the conformity
of the minds no longer free.

Thrive
free of the Book
that binds their hands and knees.

Thrive
in your community
on the outside looking in.

Thrive
among your neighbors
ignoring their own sin.

Thrive
because you’re strong
and love will always win.

My poetry book gives an atheist perspective on being a Midwest Mom. It is for sale on my publisher’s site freethoughthouse.com, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.

You, you, er, mean person! ;-) You added the title just I came here to snark about not having a title…

To explain: At first, this post first showed in the “Recent Posts on FtB” column (at←the←left) without any title at all. In the time it took me to navigate here, it acquired its title, Thrive, and now shows up with a title, that title, in that column.

So, celebrating the now-titled poem (and also showing why I don’t write poetry), a poem intended to be similar in style (but probably isn’t):

    No title
    has this poem
    for a few seconds.

    No title
    was noticed
    by a snarky few.

    No title
    disappeared
    just in time.

    No title
    is not
    the title.

    Cheers!

Oddly enough no title, untitled and working title are all themselves titles
      But just not royal ones
Untilted people are often so much better people than titled ones
Though this is just an observation
A title does not make a poem or book
But a poem or book makes a title.

      Titled untitled :
