The idea that COVID-19 leaked from a lab is extremely unlikely, and there is zero evidence to support it. It was a conspiracy theory last year, and, since we have no new evidence suggesting that there could have been a leaky lab causing problems, it still remains a conspiracy theory. Antivaxxer lies about vaccines causing infertility

Vaccines, the only light at the end of this grim tunnel called “COVID-19 pandemic.” Now that scientists have developed several safe and effective vaccines against COVID-19, we should put them in people’s arms as quickly as possible. Yet that isn’t happening. In many countries people are doing a great job with immunizing freezers. Of course, I cannot blame hospitals or doctors, because distributing a large amount of vaccines is an immense logistical challenge. Still, we should try to do better. [Read more…]

Different Responses to a Global Pandemic

Some countries have dealt with COVID-19 much better than others. With quarantine, social distancing, and good healthcare it is possible to significantly reduce the number of dead people. Politicians and the healthcare system can make a huge difference. Some countries have done a pretty good job. Others (hint: the USA) have been absolutely terrible. I believe that at this point it is possible for me to argue that the USA has the worst politicians and the worst healthcare system among all the developed countries. [Read more…]
