This is a Lime Hawk Moth, a good match for yours. Fabulous photos, Avalus! I once rescued one of these guys who was trapped in the house, with a horde of cats chasing. I got him outside, and he got a death grip on my finger and wouldn’t move for about half an hour.

Great photos! I’m fascinated with animals who use camouflage and that last pic is a perfect composition for seeing it in action. I love the shift from macro to full size. I wonder if these creatures have self awareness of how they loook or if choosing a spot to rest is just instinct?

The droplets on the wings, wow.

The camouflage is kind of like desert camo.

Thank you all! Yes, Lime Hawk moth seems to fit. I was about to search campus for a insect-biologist :D
It sat motionless all day, as the last photo was taken in the morning and the ones with droplets were taken on my way home in the evening.

All people walking by really looked rather strange at me, huugging the ground to take the photos.

@ voyager: I really wonder about that, too!
