President Donald Trump said on Thursday he wants to build up the U.S. nuclear arsenal to ensure it is at the “top of the pack,” saying the United States has fallen behind in its atomic weapons capacity.
I’m sure that’s going to make us all sleep better. FFS, can’t someone tell him “oh, there’s terrible skit on SNL” or “oh, Celeb Whatever just sucks, but you’re busy…” and distract this fucking moron? Also on the Tiny Tyrant’s agenda, wiping out every bit of progress made on decriminalizing weed, medical weed, and not locking up every other person in prison for years over weed.

The US is already vastly superior in its nuclear arsenal. It has been pretty much all along (The USSR hit close to parity in terms of “throw weight” for a while, but the US’ weapons systems overall survivability was always higher. The Soviets had to live with the fact that the US would come out ahead in a nuclear war, and were mostly trying to make sure the US couldn’t come out unscathed. Because there’s nothing more dangerous than Americans who think they can bomb you with impunity.)
Of course, I feel kind of pointless saying “hey, Trump’s ignorant.” Saying Trump’s wrong about nuclear weapons is like pointing out that a particular drop of water is wet.
I want a national Jester, to play the fool in the Oval office, but to always tell Trump when he is being stupid (that is, to tell him the truth). In every story I hear from an inside source, Donald is being coddled, insulated, protected from even the slightest disapproval. In my fantasy, the Jester tells the Secret Service to leave the room for a bit, and won’t let them back in until Trump admits (hey, it’s a first step) that his inauguration crowd was dwarfed by Obama’s. It’s scary as hell that Trump supporters don’t see any problem with that, or anything else. What I’ve been hearing about the cult-like behaviour of supporters is unbelievably frightening. Even a pastor has given an account of that, and how scared and sickened he was at a recent rally.
The problem is that whenever he sees anything negative he gets mad and vindictive. So the staff are trying to delay the outbursts and vindictive executive orders. Is there a chance that seeing all the negative stuff at once would cause him to give up rather than try to get back at the people he considers at fault?
Reportedly Reagan had his nuclear OhMyGod moment when they gave him a tour of the Cheyenne Mountain NORAD center, and he got a good look at the immense amount of shielding need to survive an atomic bomb (if it doesn’t go off too close).
It might help if Mattis dragged Trump out there, but he’d probably just react by dreaming of ways to coat it with gold and turn it into a casino.
I do not understand one thing. Well, I do not understand a lot of things, but I want to ask about this one.
The vice president is chosen by the actual president during the campaign. This means, that they are clearly somewhat connected above mere party association -- the vice president ows the president at least a favor.
In case of president dying or becoming unfit for office due to illness or similar, it makes therefore sense that the vice president should take over. But how can it be that he also takes over in case of impeachment? That makes no logical sense whatsoever. In case of impeachment the whole election should logically be anulled and repeated with completely new candidates, because impeachment shows that the president -- who has chosen the vice president -- was unfit for the office from the start.
Am I missing something? Because seriously, the more I see, the more I think USA has some pretty stupid laws. What really bugs me is that some countries are actually importing them (like my own).

Czech Republic. After the velvet revolution there were attempts at introducing two-party “democracy”, luckily those failed and we have a lot of parties and they change all the time. We tried to privatize healthcare after then US model. This luckily failed too. But recently we introducet direct presidential vote and of course we elected xenophobic racist homophobe (who, suprise suprise, loves Trump and Putin). Luckily he does not have too much power, but there was a short talk that he should have and he already has done some damage with the power he has.
