Santorum finally gets a job he’s eminently qualified for

This is the kind of thing that makes me joke maybe there is a God and she loves me. Rick Santorum, wingnut extraordinaire, finally has a seat he’s completely qualified to sit in, right at the big table with the nuttiest crunchiest nutburgers in America. Man on Dog will now offer regular op-eds for the World Nut Daily and, true to form, you can almost hear the stealthy rotor-blades of black helicopters chopping the air in his first screed: [Read more…]

Mars Curiosity meeting recap

Streaming here. For some inexplicable reason Ustream has made it either difficult to find the embed code or felt it necessary to not have it available at all. Also the log in button using Facebook doesn’t work for me and tons of people. WTG guys! So far the speakers are trying to pretend this wasn’t a first class PR screw up by saying things like, “The big important news is Curiosity landed on Mars”. Weak. I’ll have a recap when it’s available.

Recap: As best I can tell so far, Curiosity found nothing newsworthy on Mars at all. The soil analyzing instruments worked and that’s it, that’s what set this whole thing off last month.

Dang! The end is (not) nigh

The annual bleg

If only we atheist bloggers had no shame, no sense of ethics, no pangs of guilt whatsoever about feathering our own nests. What a great segue it would make for an annual reader bleg! The end-o-world would mean no need to save or plan for a future that will never come. You might as well relax, give your dirty, earthly soon-to-useless money to an authorized distributor of salvation — like me! — and secure a little special treatment or a slightly larger cell in the private prison of heaven. Alas, we do, I can’t, and you shouldn’t: [Read more…]

Mars Curiosity news tomorrow … NOW STREAMING

NOW STREAMING HERE

First a researcher on the Mars Curiosity mission lit up the science blogosphere when he said the rover had found something ‘earth shaking’ for the ‘history books’ during Thanksgiving Week. Then NASA back peddled and clammed up leading to all sorts of speculation. Finally, news made the rounds last week that Curiosity hadn’t found much of interest and it was just an excited researcher happy that the soil sampling and analytical tools were operating as designed. NOW — there are reports the rover may have found some carbon compounds, but they’re not gonna say what they are tomorrow: [Read more…]

The strange, strange world of dating

The annual bleg

I wasn’t sure if I should post this, but as long as I’m blegging this week, I suppose readers deserve to be entertained. And what could be more entertaining that relationship drama? Besides, this has me as perplexed as a tweener at their first middle school dance. Almost a year ago I asked a lady out, we went out twice. For those with inquiring minds, we didn’t make out — or anything else — I got the distinct feeling she wasn’t interested in me after the second date. Which was confirmed when she declined a third date. She could have used a traditional brush off, like “I have to wash my hair,” but I kid you not, her words were along the lines of, “you are gross and the thought of being with you makes me sick.” [Read more…]

Anyday now they’ll start calling us angry

When the pampered Wall Street CEO class nuked the economy, shown by the red-colored needle shaped drop in corporate profits just before 2010, it was US wage earners who rode to their rescue, securing their multimillion dollar bonuses and cushy jobs. The same working middle class whose wages shown in blue never recovered. At first the CEO class strutted around and scolding us for taking on the debt to save them [Read more…]

It has nothing to do with race …

The annual bleg

Just as an example of the kind of emails we get at Daily Kos, and the amazing delusional psychosis infecting conservatives who truly believe in their heart of hearts there 1)  is no racism in the GOP and 2) friends who look me straight in the eyes utterly puzzled as to what I am talking about (Or accuse dems of making it all up to make the GOP sound racist), I give you this weekend’s wingnut neoconfederate exampler. Trust me folks, this is not work safe, but sad to say it is routine stuff for us: [Read more…]
