A Member of the Public

So, RawStory, right? But that’s where I saw yet another discussion of insiders being shocked that they’re not getting the information they need to keep themselves healthy and/or to do their jobs (from the context it’s not clear which, if not both, is being lamented). In this particular case, however, it’s a high-level staffer or official of the Leopards Eating Faces Party who is shocked, SHOCKED that they are being treated like a commoner, with crucial information being withheld and no way to determine which of the contradictory stories appearing in the press are the lies and which are to be believed. The original reporting was from Politico, and I quote from them despite the hat tip from Raw Story:

One White House official said most officials were receiving the same updates as the press — no more, no less. Another White House aide complained about being perpetually in the dark about not just the president’s health, but about coronavirus infections among the staff.

I might as well be a member of the public,” the aide said, saying officials felt nervous and upset about the lack of information.

My heart bleeds for you that the Trump administration would lie to you this way, unknown member of the Trump administration. Truly this is an injustice.

May the shredded skin of your face know wholeness, and if it cannot know wholeness, may it know peace.

Ah, the cry of the frustrated insider. To be reduced to knowing only what’s available to the general public – appalling!

I should clarify that I don’t want administration officials to get sick, but it’s either very naive or very cynical to complain about being kept in the dark when you serve an administration that loves to keep people in the dark.

“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” — attributed to Jesus (KJV)

That’s from the final section of the Sermon on the Mount in which Jesus is warning against false prophesy. His point was that, just as you can’t expect to get figs from an apple tree (or something like that…I forget the actual fruits and don’t care enough to look it up), you can’t expect to hear the truth from folks who do not customarily tell the truth.

My point is that this strikes me as really old news. 😎
