Oh, the roiling turmoil, the ducking, the dodging, the calls for resignation, yada, yada, yada. Lots of headlines over Sessions right now. He lied. He committed perjury. Surely, I can’t be the only person not in the least bit surprised. What would surprise me is if any of the current cabinet didn’t lie during confirmation hearings. So, all the headlines:
Sessions lied to Congress about his contacts with Russia during the Trump campaign. Here’s the tape.
Jeff Sessions said that people who commit perjury must be removed from office.
Jeff Sessions’ shifting, deceptive explanations for his secret meetings with Russia.
48 Congressional Democrats call on Attorney General to resign.
US Attorney General Sessions says to recuse himself when ‘appropriate’.
Just one question, and this goes for every person, not just Sessions – why in the fuck were these people ever confirmed in the first place? It would have been nice if all the democrats had been busy doing their damn job then.

Hasn’t the entire fracking cabinet committed perjury?

Siobhan @1:
Not just the cabinet, but the whole administration from top to bottom lies. It’s what they do.

I feel least confident in this one, but I’ll go ahead and say it:
Nothing will happen. He’ll remain AG as long as the Sexual Assaulter wants him to.

You should apply for that million dollars or however much it was for psychic ability. :P

Sean Spicer: Anyone asking for Sessions to recuse himself from Russia case should be ‘ashamed’.

I really hope at least some of this causes blowback in 2018. I’m not optimistic, though.

sez caine: “It would have been nice if all the democrats had been busy doing their damn job then.”
What would it take for you to regard the Dems as “doing their damn job” in this case? It only took 51 votes to confirm Sessions… and what do you know, 51 Republican senators did vote to confirm him. There was one Dem senator (Joe Manchin III, West Virginia) who voted to confirm Sessions, but that just brought the “yea” tally up to 52. So if Manchin had voted against Sessions, there still would have been 51 votes to confirm.
Maybe you think “doing their damn job” means persuading at least two or three Rep senators to vote against Sessions? If so… how could anyone persuade Reps to break from their party? Suspect that nothing short of voting the SOBs out of office is likely to suffice for breaking the damn GOP stranglehold on the Federal Government.
Friends don’t let friends vote Republican.

Including, surely, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions himself: Sessions Recuses Himself From Trump-Russia Investigation.
