Help, help, I’m being repressed! Or rather Bishop William Lori is being repressed. He thinks religion and religious freedom is under attack in America, meaning his silly beliefs: [Read more…]
When you believe in magic invisible wizards, good and evil, you end up taking some strange positions. But politics makes for the strangest bedfellows of all in this case, where evangelical and now governor-elect Phil Bryant of Mississippi seems by his own stated belief to be working for or at least alongside the Dark Prince: [Read more…]
Good grief this man is shameless, he’s not just a political chameleon, he’s a full-blown mimic octopus. Romney has gone from pro-choice to anti-choice and is now working his way back. [Read more…]
In the wake of Tuesday’s sharp rebuke to conservative policies, wingnuttia needs a boost, and they may have already found it. A fifteen cent tax on fir trees heavily endorsed by — some could argue implemented at the behest of — live tree growers may serve as a convenient conversation changer and opening salvo in the annual War on Christmas facade, this time with 100% more Obama! Personhood was defeated in Mississippi, soundly, by double digits. It was a good night all around for progressives and common sense. But if you think these protoplasm worshipping creeps are giving up on controlling women’s bodies, you don’t know how they roll. Mississippi was just warm up for a state by state and federal push to force 12 year-old rape victims to bear the thug’s child and turn millions of women, doctors, pharmacists, and parents into criminals. This is their full-time fucking job: [Read more…]
It’s not hard to win elections, you do that by doing one thing: vote. Every vote you cast costs the billionaire boyz money. Every vote you cast tanks their investments. Voting is asymmetrical class warfare. Ohio and Mississippi proved that again last night. If you don’t vote, your feelings literally do not count.
I’m sure I’ll write more on this and include with useful websites by state, but for now if you’ve moved, are just reaching voting age, are deployed overseas, if you currently lack ID, check with your local state office and Rock the Vote. [Read more…]

But the bad guys made a few gains also. More results, links, and comments below the fold courtesy of Daily Kos Eelections. [Read more…]
Do you believe in miracles? Well obviously not, but this is an unexpected triumph!
MS – INITIATIVE 26 asks voters: “Should the term ‘person’ be defined to include every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning, or the equivalent thereof?”
Update: Personhood, this race is called! With half the precincts in, good guys lead … No 58%, to Yes 42%, up by over 50,000 votes out of about 344,000. [Read more…]
Two important votes in two very different states will test culture warriors and common sense today. Ohio voters go to the polls to vote on a recall of a recent bill pushed through by GOP Governor John Kasich restricting public employee unions — because nothing says constitutional liberty and small government like making it illegal for citizens to assemble and petition the government. Thankfully, polling is trending against this measure, but it’s not over til its over. The other vote in Mississippi will determine if blastocysts are people, polling there shows it coming down to the wire: [Read more…]
