Hector beautifully demonstrates the difference selective breeding has had on so many breeds taking the breed characteristics to unhealthy extremes. While clearly a large dog he and his fellows are also far more althletic looking than any modern St Bernard, they have soft mouths but are not as extremely jowly as the modern St Bernard, they have good thick coats but not so heavy as to cause problems.
