Looking at the marked difference between the two photos (flash and ??)
I’m wondering what the lighting in your studio is.

I’ve done some knitting things with complex patterns and complex yarn that I could work on only under sunlight. Full sun.
Cloudy day was difficult and artificial light was impossible.
My studio lighting is lousy, and in need of replacing. The colours in the first are more true; both are taken with a flash, but the second one is angled down. I have to take the whole board outside to get proper photos.

thought, “not so good”.
