Admin Stuff: Fridays.

I’ve been doing a Cool Stuff Friday post since April ‘016. Going to be a change. Fridays will be all art days, giving me a chance to cover so very many wonderful things, which I’m much happier doing anyway, rather than dealing with all the upsetting stuff in reality land. This will give me the opportunity to stay happily under my rock for a day as well as indulge in sharing so many things I love and find fascinating. Hopefully, people who are kind enough to stop by Affinity will find much to love and interest them, too. There’s just so much to share, and there never seems to be enough time. In over a year, I haven’t found time to share one thing from The Public Domain Review, one of my favourite places to get lost. Here’s a small sample of why I like to get lost there:

Gynecological Gymnastics from Outer Space. (1895)

Aratea: Making Pictures with Words in the 9th Century.

Geographical Fun: Being Humourous Outlines of Various Countries. (1868)

So, starting tomorrow, Fridays will simply be mostly fun, sometimes serious, and I hope, always informative.

Thank you. You don’t know how much that means to me. As I have said before, when I go all art, my stats take a dive like you wouldn’t believe, but this is important to me, and I want it to be important to others, too. So many people bypass all the art stuff, they don’t care, but art, in all its infinite variety is critical to humans, we can’t live without it, and I would be most pleased if I could just get a few more people to realize that.

A guy said to me in a public sauna that if people are arguing about politics, he will slowly pour two ladles full of water on the hot stones* to get fairly persistent hot steam rising slowly from the kiuas. After that, no arguments about the political shit will be made, the dudes will sit quietly or exit the hot room.

I think all art Friday could be a good parallel to that, albeit in a more refined way.

I appreciate the art postings very much and I’ll try to click the links more often in the future.
    * = Gaining an explicit or tacit consent of at least one person is considered good manners in that sauna.

The diversity of your blog is one of the main reasons that I visit so frequently. Plus, it is your blog, and you should do what makes you happy. I am not artistic, but I enjoy your posts. My wife is artistic, and those posts are what I pointed out to her to get her started reading your blog.

That’s really nice to know, thank you.
