    A nitpick -- bumblebees are holometabolic insects, they have only three stages after the egg -- larva, pupa, adult. This is not a baby, this is a worker bee. AFAIK those are significantly smaller than the queen who hibernated through winter, and early generations are slightly smaller than later generations when the weather is warmer and there is more food available.
