The baby was doing the frantic wing flapping, trying to get a parent to come and feed, but the only shot I got of the flap was very blurry. This was at the very edge of my big lens’s capacity.

Oh, I know, they are so adorable! Summer here is a veritable baby extravaganza. So far, my favourites have been the baby Blue Jay, and the about thousand shots I got of Downy Woodpeckers with their babes. The cutest by far were shots of a Daddy Downy with his babe, both perched on a large seed bell. Babe would flap, and try to figure out this pecking thing, while Dad would get the good seeds and lean across to feed babe.
