Understanding the Correct Use of “Literally”


Overheard just now in the cabin. My daughter to her younger brother: "I would literally trade you for a bag of doritos."

 

“Wait, I don’t think you know exactly what ‘literally’ means.”

:dead stare: “Oh, I think I do.”

    A couple of years ago, I had a co-worker who used “literally” in about every other sentence. It was so annoying that when she moved away and no longer worked at my site, I literally jumped for joy.
