Not trying to cause a negative reaction, just curious: what is the lifespan of your rats? I get so attached to my cats, and when I have to have them euthanized, it breaks my heart. But cats live pretty long lives. The shortest I have ever had one live was about eight years, and the longest eighteen. I would find it hard to get attached and have to go through the grief every year.

The average lifespan of a rat is 2 to 3 years. Some live less, and some live longer. It’s tough to lose them, like it is any animal, but they are also so very worth it.
