    It’s often called a flower-of-an-hour. On a sunny morning the plant seems to choose one bud which will open for only a short time (in my yard for about three hours). That particular bud will never bloom again. It’s sort of like a dayflower, but for an even shorter time.

    They are beautiful. I haven’t seen any hibiscus for ages, but a relative, Hollyhocks grow in abundance here, and I love them.
