Internet justice strikes UC Davis cop anonymously

One of the police officers caught on dozens of cameras spraying peaceful protestors with an ugly orange geyser of so-called pepper spray (Ah pepper, sounds so delightfully innocuous doesn’t it) has been outed by the anonymous hactivists:

(DailyNews) — The voicemail on the working cell number for Lt. John Pike was full Tuesday. “Dear Officer John Pike, we are Anonymous. Your information is now public domain,” a computer-generated voice narrating the Anonymous video states. “Expect our full wrath,” the voice continues as viral video of the Friday incident plays in the background. “Anonymous seeks to avenge all protesters…We are going to make you squeal like a pig.” The ominous message, which ends with a photo of Pike and the sounds of shrieking pigs, makes no excuse for exposing Pike to potential reprisals.

This brings up an important point for Gestapo loving thugs everywhere: if you are doing the dirty work for conservative billionaires loaded with cash, and not getting paid a pretty penny for it, you are a fucking fool. You are putting your career, your peace of mind, and possibly even your personal safety on the line for pampered sociopaths who will drop you like a hot potato or turn on you like a rabid wolf the second there’s any advantage in it.

Update: Title edited per comment below; Berkeley replaced with Davis.

I can’t help thinking this is a bad idea. Sure, it scares the pawns and feels good. But look at how well scare tactics have been working for the other side lately. Why would anyone want to copy all that epic failure?

This did not happen @ Berkeley. This was UC Davis. The man in the picture is Lt. Pike, an officer of the UC Davis police force, employed by the school (the way that police are normally employed by a city) and acting under orders, ultimately of the school’s chancellor. (Just to clarify who was involved, not taking away any of the reasonably directed ire towards Pike)

UC Davis deserves all the culpability. Berkeley had a different incident. Hold them accountable for that, but not for this.
