Sorry, I don’t understand the reference. Is this an American one that this currently pretty tired Aussie won’t know? For clarity here, I am aware of Breonna Taylor’s horrific murder in her own home by the police ( https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-54210448 ) which has apppalled people around the world and think the cops who shot her need to be arrested and jailed for it; it’s the “secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects” line that I’d like some elaboration and explanation on here. Is that from the US Constitution or Bill of Rights or ..??? Its not ringing any bells for me although quite likely I’m missing something obvs here.

It’s from the “Bill of Rights”. I believe, or the fourth amendment to the constitution.
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated,..”
Ah, “but who are the people” asked Alice.

StevoR: It’s from the fourth amendment to the US constitution:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
