I really wonder how they had a NEW story or feature by H. P. Lovecraft, given that he died in 1937.
I can think of a couple of possibilities.
One: They may have managed to get their hands on a previously-unpublished work of Lovecraft’s. Not real sure about that one, but it’s at least philosophically possible. As for the other authors listed under “new”, they’re all dead in 2020, but were all alive in 1971, so that’s okay.
Two: The magazine may have been a complete reprint of an earlier magazine, with minor tweaks to accommodate the then-current cover date and price.
