The starlings flock along with the blackbirds around here, so where the blackbirds go, the starlings tag along. And we have lots of blackbirds coming to feed. This little beauty had just landed, using its legs as a shock absorber, which explains the angle of the body and legs.
I had to under-expose to get the shutter speed high enough to capture the open wings. Even in decent light the camera just doesn’t have enough lens opening to give me the shutter speeds I want for that kind of shot. Never mind the difficulty in planning the focus on my camera. I keep threatening to borrow my friend’s DSLR for a week, and I’m getting that urge again…
