“Can the bar go any lower? Donald Trump brags he got ‘higher ratings than 9/11’ in interview about the first 100 days. Link.”
The Twittersphere isn’t too impressed by all the trumpeting over those first 100 days which don’t count at all, no.

I think the bar is already so low that not even a bacterium would be able to dance limbo with it.
Siobhan says
If anybody’s wondering why I’ve had an uptick in misanthropy, it’s because folks are tripping over themselves to congratulate Trump on going 100 days without committing a sex crime.
sigh
Caine says
Shiv, a lot of that is sarcasm of the deepest kind.
Kreator, agreed. Him saying such shit simply proves he’s mentally and emotionally unfit -- he has no sense of empathy, compassion, or sympathy. He also doesn’t view anyone else as human. “My ratings were better than 9/11!” Yeah, that’s gonna go down well.

Even digging a tunnel under the bar wouldn’t help, as hair furor and teh dalekocracy has dug so many holes so deep on all sides† the tunnel would collapse.
† And, not satisfied with undermining everything, is digging ever deeper…

The comments are creative, accurate, and entertaining, but I fear for my children and grand children, due to the damage trump and his ilk are doing through all three branches of government (now the Supreme Court.) The man has zero redeeming qualities, but so many are blindly following him.
Caine says
Chuckmc29:
I know, I fear for myself and mine, and all others, too. The man is a clear and present danger to all life.
Oh, I know. I was reading yesterday that of all who voted for him, only 2 percent regretted their vote. Lot of hateful people out there.

That we know of. That we know of.

His photos with his fucking facial expressions need content warnings.

Sadly, he is in his own world and public disapproval isn’t something that can impact him in any good way. He’ll just call it fake news or contradict it by saying he’s loved and point to a flattering piece some journalist wrote about him.
The poll on that website has 85% people saying he’ll get impeached. What are those people smoking?
busterggi says
Once you’ve reached the Earth’s core it difficult to get lower.
Caine says
Saad:
I dunno, but I’d like some.
cubist says
Impeachment isn’t a viable option as long as the GOP controls both houses of Congress. The numerically inferior Democratic congressthings can’t make it happen, and there’s damn-all chance of any GOPers blowing off ‘party unity’ to collaborate with their Democratic colleagues.
The solution is to vote the GOPers out. Every last one of them, ideally, but at least enough to make the GOPers a numerically-irrelevant portion of Congress.
Like I keep telling people: Friends don’t let friends vote Republican.

Spherical(-ish) Earth is
They’ll just keep digging until they come out the other side† and encounter the turtles… and keep on digging, albeit through an awful lot of turtles instead of vast pools of imaginary crude oil and mythical clean coal.† Actually, given their poor adherence to, or even knowledge of, plans and planning, they’ll probably take a couple of turns and exit via the edge. Or just go round and round in loops, hollowing out the Earth, possibly with occasional surfacings before scurrying back underground, something like groundhogs. (Apologies to groundhogs for implying this lot have anything like your intelligence, skills, or cuteness.)

The “First 100 Days” benchmark has always been and remains utter bullshit. But Trump himself has driven that standard more than anyone this time around.
I can’t even speak about the ratings comparison. He has passed the Earth’s core and entered an extra-dimensional space that is somehow even lower. There is no bottom.

Everybody watches trainwrecks. That’s why Trumpolini has made the trains wreck on schedule every day.
Caine says
lumipuna:
A properly scathing remark, beautiful.
lumipuna says
Thanks. Personally, I’m privileged enough to feel I’m watching the wreck from outside, and it still takes too much of my attention. Might be tactless of me to joke about it too often.
Caine says
Please, feel free to indulge here, you won’t be causing offense of any kind. Trump causes offense.
Kengi says
The thing that annoys me most is the ratings are something the media and Trump can agree on. The ratings are high, and high ratings are good on both sides of that equation. That is, in no small part, how we got Trump to where he is now. The media spent hours watching an empty Trump podium, and covering every idiotic syllable that came out of his mouth, usually uncensored and in its entirety. All while generally ignoring Clinton (or anyone else, for that matter).
The media execs can give themselves a big pat on the back, and huge bonuses as well.
Czech American says
We need the laughs over here. Otherwise, we would be crying all the time.

Caine: Thanks for your “sanctuary of sanity” here, and your reply. The vile characteristics of trump supporters seem to be compounding from my observations. The “basket of deplorables” (40% during campaign) appears to have climbed since almost all of his supporters are “doubling down” on his blatant lies. However, I attended a Bernie Sanders rally in Las Vegas (on Earth Day) and was revitalized. The speakers were excellent and it was refreshing to see young, old, in the middle, and every ethnic group represented in the audience.
On another subject: I enjoy The Daily Bird and your countryside seasonal photos. I save them for reference, since I am trying to interest my grandchildren in bird watching and appreciation of the environment. Thanks.
Caine says
Chuckmc29, you are very kind, thank you. I’ll see if I can find more child-based items on dinosaur watching and environment -- that’s a good idea, thanks very much!
