‘Colossal’: A monster movie that takes on toxic masculinity.

I got chills (the bad kind) reading about this.
And I want to see it, badly.

Yes, I want to see it too, although I share the bad chills. I hadn’t even heard of it until yesterday, and I have to say, I’m seriously surprised that toxic masculinity is not only being accurately depicted in a movie, but that it’s in a movie at all, and not being portrayed as cool alpha behaviour.

I’m wondering if certain people I’m close to will get it as more than a quirky, weird movie with violence and relationships. Or will they chalk it up to ‘it’s just a movie’?
But all of that is beside the point, if this movie is already made and puts that toxic masculinity front and centre, showcasing its actual harm for once. I’m sure there will be a lot of teeth grinding over this in some circles, as per the usual. Oh well! More like this, please.

Wanna see it.
Which means I must try to remember this when it finally hits the streaming services…

Now I want to gather up all the typical sorts of men you find spraying their privilege all over various subcultures like incontinent skunks and give them the Clockwork Orange treatment with a double feature of this and “Get Out”.
