Flash Floods: I’m glad I stayed home this weekend

It’s been an interesting week of weather, with heavy rain over several days, and that’s before Typhoon Mangkhut which is predicted to make landfall by next weekend.

I’m not complaining, though.  Temperatures have been in the 25-30C range instead of 33-38C that they’ve been most of the summer.  The reservoirs are filling after repeated years of drought.  And this rain will wash away the pools where mosquitos are breeding.  Taiwan has now had over 100 recorded cases of Dengue fever, the most recent about 10km from where I live.

Am I a bad person for laughing at the scooter driver who is unnecessarily speeding through the rain?
