    It seems really weird to me that the cow is venerated but simultaneously untouchable once it’s dead. That does embed a pretty wicked denial of service attack right into the underpinnings of the system.

    I was a kid during the garbage collectors’ strike in NYC. I can’t imagine what a dead cow collectors’ strike is like.

      Hindu system has a very peculiar and strict concept of pollution. Even the human dead body is considered polluting. If a person visit a house to see a dead body, they will to have take a bath before entering their own house. In olden days there will be a pond nearby to bath. Many follow this custom even now and do a ritual bathing by sprinkling water on their head from a water tap outside.
