    They have a restrained but colourful style. And this is a very common bird, 530 -- 1400 million individuals in the world according to the Pffft. I’ve seen them also here in the summertime (they are migratory in Northern/Northeastern Europe), after I’ve opened my eyes a bit more for dinosaurs.

    It’s funny, I read a short fantasy story called “The Braining of Mother Lamprey” a few years ago, and the story featured these birds as magical wards. I assumed at the time that they were made-up fantasy creatures.
