Morning session

I went to sleep very late last night and woke up very early so I was perilously close to falling asleep but then Anthony Grayling came in and sat next to me and Dave did his talk so I WOKE RIGHT UP.

It was a great talk. Dave’s a rouser, and a rouser is what we need, which is what he said. American Atheists is doing people like the Harvard Humanists a favor because now there are the bad atheists over here and the good atheists over here and what does that mean?

That there are good atheists!

You should say it in a shout, the way Dave does.

I was telling Anthony how Dave can stand up to O’Reilly, which hardly anybody is good at doing.

Near the end Dave said and also we need to work together, we need unity, so if you’re someone who is taking potshots at other atheists just because it’s fun, cut it out.

AHEM.

Incidentally, on the topic of Grayling, does anyone else get the feeling that is new book is getting an organized press beating? I haven’t yet come across a single positive review. What is more, the reviews have been from people like Peter Hitchens and Jonathan Ree–the editors knew what they’d get when they hired those blankety-blanks. I wonder if there is a growing hostility among those media folk toward books that smack of New Atheism.

But that would deny the mildew their FREEZE PEACH!

Hmm, I’m not sure getting bound-to-be-hostile reviewers on the case is new; that’s exactly what happened to Does God Hate Women? Sholto Fucking Byrnes, for christ’s sake.

The bound-to-be-hostile reviewer trick is far from new. Many of The God Delusion’s reviews practically ended with “Praise Jesus!”.
