Excitement is rising among Freethinkers of Kerala, India as the two day event that brings together the humanist Freethinkers of the state for an intellectual feast is fast approaching.

Organised under the aegis  of “Freethinkers” Facebook group and Kerala Freethinkers Forum the Freethinkers meet 2017  is scheduled for April 22 and 23 at Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram.

Two days of learning, discussing and educating oneself and others while also connecting with fellow-rationalists from across Kerala.

Freethinkers’ Meet (or FT Meet) is an event held under the banner of Freethinkers സ്വതന്ത്രചിന്തകർ, an active open Facebook group which serves as a platform for debates and discussions about topics that often include god, religion, atheism, politics, science, humanism, feminism etc.

This year’s event Freethinkers Meet – 2017 has been planned catering to the compelling need to include themes and topics relating to both society and science alike. While providing a platform for freethinkers all over Kerala to meet and connect, the conference also intends to educate, nurture scientific temper and foster healthy debates and discussions. The event will see presentations, open forums, talks and discussions on themes ranging across science, morality, law, caste, sex and gender, feminism, LGBTQ+ Rights, representations in media, politics in social media etc.

India is going through a period in history in which freedom of expression is severely threatened by both religion and state. At such a juncture this meet will play a very important role in holding up the flag of freethought.
