The new headlines on CNN are, of course, that this woman is now getting rape threats for participating in the making of this video.

(Ok, looking for the link, I now can’t find it–might not be CNN, but I did see the story somewhere, I promise!)

Torture and death threats every time a woman objects to abuse are something new in my experience. Everybody keeps telling me that — of course! — bigotry against women is less than it was, but I’m not seeing it. On too many levels, things look like they’re going backward.

Unless, perhaps, I should be taking the wildly hopeful view and figuring that we’ve moved a notch on this spectrum: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” ?

From the card at the end of the video:

100+ instances of verbal street harassment took place within 10 hours, involving people of all backgrounds. So we edited out most of the white people, because reasons.

Good as this video is, it has issues.
